Aamir Khan’s recent release ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ struggled to pull the audience into the theatres. People blamed the boycott trend and ‘bhakts’ for the failure of the film at the box office. However, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has a different opinion on the same. ‘The Kashmir Files’ director stated that only 40-50% of Indians vote for Narendra Modi but even the rest of the 50% didn’t show up for Aamir’s movie.
He went on to say that if the boycott was real, this time, it wasn’t violent as it was during the release of his film ‘Dangal’ and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Padmaavat’. He added that during that time, movie theatres were put on fire, yet the films went on to become blockbusters.
Vivek said that people saw Aamir’s sincerity in ‘Dangal’, he had gained weight for the character and played a dad. He questioned, ‘can anyone tell me what is this Laal Singh Chaddha about? No one knows that.’
Directed by Advait Chandan, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ was an official remake of Tom Hanks starrer ‘Forrest Gump’.
