KOCHI: The appointment of M V Narayanan as the vice-chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), Kalady, in Kerala was reportedly made after excluding the names of six other senior professors from the list by the search-cum-selection committee. The documents, accessed by Save University Campaign Committee (SUCC), revealed that the search committee recommended only Narayanan to the post.
Narayanan is one among the nine vice-chancellors whose resignations have been sought by Kerala governor Arif Mohammed Khan, who is also the chancellor of the universities, on Sunday.
According to the documents regarding the appointment accessed by SUCC through an RTI petition, the shortlisted panel for VC appointment originally had seven names, including Narayanan’s. However, the list was further narrowed down to his name alone.
The excluded professors include the Sanskrit dean of Calicut University and also those professors recommended earlier by the search committee for the appointment of VCs to Calicut University and Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).
