JAMMU: Security forces in a joint operation on Saturday busted a terrorist hideout in a forest area in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the recovery of a huge cache of ammunition and explosives.
Police said that information was received through reliable sources regarding the presence of arms, ammunition, and related material in the far-flung hilly and forested area of Khari, following which a joint team of the Army’s 23RR and police launched a search operation and suspected hideout locations were searched, which led to the recovery of a huge haul of arms and ammunition. “The recovery included 310 AK-47 rounds (rusted condition), 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition (rusted), one 9mm magazine, six AK-47 magazines (rusted), one grenade and other material,” said a police official.
A case under Arms Act and Explosives Substances Act was registered at Banihal.
Earlier on October 13, security forces had recovered three suspected Improvised explosive devices (IEDs), along with tactical maps of some bridges, from an abandoned bag found in the Gool area of Ramban district in J&K.
