Earlier there were speculations that the movie will release on Christmas this year, later, reports suggested that the film will be released for Pongal 2023. It has now been confirmed that Ajith’s ‘Thunivu’ will be clashing at the box office with Vijay’s ‘Varisu’. Just a couple of days ago, the makers of ‘Varisu’ announced that the Vijay starrer will be released on Pongal.

‘Thunivu’ has Ajith and Manju Warrier playing the lead roles in the movie. The movie is said to portray Ajith in a negative role nearly after a decade. The story of the film is touted to be a bank heist inspired by the 1987 Ludhiana bank robbery case.

‘Thunivu’s initial shooting began in June and the film was shot in Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and the climax action sequence of the film was reportedly shot in Bangkok. Now, the final part of the shooting is underway and it is likely that the film will soon be wrapping up its shooting and will move into post-production.
