Apple is working on a larger iPad, much bigger than the current 12.9-inches iPad Pro, reports The Information. Citing a “person familiar with the project,” the report suggests that the Cupertino giant could bring a new 16-inch to the market next year, i.e., 2023.
If the report is to be believed, the 16-inch iPad model could launch in the fourth quarter of 20203. However, the timeline is susceptible to change, or Apple could decide to cancel the production during the development phase entirely.
The Information’s Wayne Ma reports that the upcoming larger iPad would further blur the line between iPads and MacBooks, bringing as big a tablet as its biggest laptop. The report further notes that the 16-inch iPad would target creatives, including graphic designers, artists, and designers, who need a bigger screen estate for their work.
The rumours of a larger iPad have been doing the round of the internet for some time now. While we have not heard of a 16-inch iPad Pro arriving, there have been talks of Apple working on a 14.1-inch iPad Pro.
Recently, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reported that Apple may launch a larger iPad, ranging somewhere between 14-15 inches may launch in the “next year or two.” Corroborating the rumour, Supply chain analyst Ross Young suggested that a new 14.1-inch iPad with miniLED display could launch as early as next year.
Apple recently updated its entry-level and highest-end iPads – the iPad and iPad Pro. The new entry-level iPad got a makeover with a new A14 chip and improved cameras. Meanwhile, the iPad Pro, the 11- inches and 12-inches one, received the latest M2 chip.
