INDORE: In a spine-chilling suicide pact, three 16-year-old girls from Ashta town in MP, bunked school on Friday and took a bus to Indore, 120km away, where they took poison together. Two of them died at night and the third is in a critical condition.
Police pieced together the incident after speaking with one of the girls who was still conscious when brought to MY Hospital. Police suspect that one of the girls had come to meet her boyfriend and she was carrying poison to die by suicide if he refused to meet her. In a bizarre chain of events, the three fast friends took poison together, say investigators.
“After coming to Indore, they roamed around for a while and then took poison in a garden near a hospital in Bhanwarkuan area. They were rushed to the private hospital by locals from where they were taken to MY Hospital, where two of them died during treatment,” additional DCP Prashant Choubey said.
One of the girls gave a statement to police. “She said that while one of them killed herself because her boyfriend was not talking to her, the second one took poison because of family disputes. The third one said that since both of her friends were taking poison, she too did,” said Choubey.
The girls bought the poison in Ashta and had decided to kill themselves in Indore, the ADCP said.
The family members have reached Indore. They are in a state of shock. “Their statements will also be recorded. No suicide note has been recovered,” Choubey said.
